Tawau Geothermal Power Plant ready by 2015

Geothermal power has a lot of potential as soon as it comes to alternative power. As geothermal energy is one of the Earth’s natural resources, it remains a reality that it would not generate any pollutants, so what far better way than to make use of it. Geothermal plants are at the same time small than the bigger atomic power facilities, electrical plants as well as the giant dams, which indicates there would be less disruption towards the environment.

There is a lot of criticism in tapping into the geothemal power which prevents it becoming implemented on a considerably wider scale. It is considerably too costly and time consuming to give some thought to learning and researching a resourceful region.

Ironically geothermal power may turn out to be one of the very best solutions to fight against climate change, along with other renewable energy resources including solar and wind power. The benefit that geothermal energy has over solar and wind energy is the fact that geothermal energy is out there 24/7, as opposed to wind or solar which suffer from intermittency issue, and are only on the market once wind is blowing and sun is shining.

Today, electricity and energy generation have become an indispensable component of various of our day-to-day lives. With automation of many manual activities, need for power has elevated a whole lot of times far more than at the past and is constantly growing, due to the rapid boost in population and developments in science and technologies. so, tapping the geothermal energy to make energy is a superb option to meet the globe’s future power.

Tawau Geothermal PowerGeothermal plant will be Sabah’s future energy generating method, simply because this is one of the environmental friendly methods for making electricity efficiently, the Sabah government can be working with this to fulfill the requires of the users inside the states.

The phase one of Tawau Green Energy Geothermal Power Plant involving generating ability of 36MW is expected to be accomplished in 2015. The energy plant at Apas Kiri, which is the initial renewable and sustainable project of its type in Malaysia, will deliver 30MW towards the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) grid. The plant will be Malaysia’s first grid-connected geothermal power plant.

Tawau Geothermal PowerThe project is estimated to cost RM419 million and it has qualified to get a grant of RM35million from the Private-Public Partnership Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department for the access road and water treatment plant.

Sustainable Energy Development Authority of Malaysia (SEDA Malaysia) chairman Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn said, the renewable power plant is really a different prospect in the district and it can be as well acceptable to anyone in the community.

The project undertaken by Tawau Green Energy Sdn Bhd (TGE) will lower the utilization of fossil fuel for energy generation at the state grid in line with Malaysia’s sustainable development policy and global greenhouse gas emission reduction.
